WHY HAVE AN OFFSITE?

Team offsites are a powerful tool. It’s focused time away from the daily grind — a chance for your team to step back, be honest about what's working and what isn't, and do the deeper work that can’t (and shouldn’t) happen in weekly staff meetings.

But not all offsites are effective. Often they play it safe, and the real issues never come up. We take a different approach — we create enough safety for people to be honest, and then we help them have the conversations they've been avoiding.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

We usually work with teams of 5 to 20 people — functional teams, executive teams, and cross-functional groups. Here are some of the most common reasons you might want support.

Your organization is going through significant change. A new strategic direction, a merger, a restructuring, preparing to go public — big changes create confusion and anxiety. An offsite is a chance to slow down and create space for the conversations that matter most.

You have a new team or new team members. Teams in transition can accelerate their path to high performance by investing early in relationships, norms, and shared purpose — rather than waiting months for things to click.

People are struggling to work together. Whether it's artificial harmony, unresolved conflict, or cross-functional friction — if people aren't going to each other directly, that's a sign it's time.

Your team needs to get aligned on where you're headed. There's no shortage of ideas or priorities, but the team isn't clear on what matters most — or they think they're aligned and they're not.

Our Process

  • 1. Discovery call

    Every engagement starts with a conversation. We learn about your team, your context, and what you're hoping to accomplish. Together we scope the session and start building an agenda. Most initial offsites are one or two days in person, but we can run virtual sessions as well.

  • 2. ASSESSMENTS & PREP

    All team members take an anonymous survey to surface current strengths and areas of opportunity. We may also use individual assessments — like Myers-Briggs, Thomas-Kilmann, or DISC — to give the team common language for understanding different working styles. The goal isn't to produce a report. It's to surface the conversations your team most needs to have.

  • 3. LEADER PREP CALL

    A few days before the offsite, we review assessment results with the team leader, coach them on opening remarks, and fine-tune the agenda based on what we've learned.

  • 4. The Offsite

    We facilitate the session with your team — but we don't just run through slides. We go in with an agenda and adapt on the fly based on what emerges. The agenda serves the team, not the other way around.

  • 5. Follow-through

    The offsite isn't a standalone event — it's part of a longer journey. After the session, we provide a summary of discussions, decisions, and next steps. We debrief with the leader, offer a meeting audit to see how the work is showing up in day-to-day rhythms, and check in regularly.

  • 6. Progress Check

    Three to six months later, we run a follow-up assessment so you can measure how far the team has come and identify what to focus on next.

WHY USE AN OUTSIDE FacilitatOR FOR YOUR TEAM

Some teams run their own offsites. But there's a ceiling to how deep a team will go when the boss or a peer is also running the agenda.
